LocalGov Drupal, a publishing platform made on Drupal, has been awarded £400,000 continuation funding from the Department of Leveling-Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) Local Digital Fund to continue its work facilitating digital collaboration between local governments in the UK.

The funding will help bring new councils to the project and add additional functionality to the platform. This project is vital to give smaller councils that are tight on a budget access to a fully accessible, best practice distribution at a vastly reduced cost. So far, it has been estimated that the project has helped the council taxpayers save up to £120,000 per web build. The projection also suggests that they will save between £7 million and £12 million over the next five years.

The project has helped several councils, including Croydon, Brighton, and Hove, and Waltham Forest, create incredible new sites with enhanced user experience and saving money for vital services in the process.

LocalGov Drupal received £400,000 last year when they were planning to become a non-profit. Will Callaghan, Product and Project Lead for LocalGov Drupal, said that he was delighted that the DLUHC has decided to fund them for another year. He also added that it's a huge vote of confidence for their work and for the 22 councils that have joined the project, and he wants to thank the DLUHC and all those that supported the project in its journey.
