Drupal Association Issues Statement on Pride Month 2023

Pride Month

As the US celebrates LGBTQ Pride Month in June, Drupal Association has issued a statement restating its commitment to the rights of the community. The statement also highlights the situation in the US, where transgender rights are coming under attack in many states and local communities.

The month of June is observed as LGBTQ Pride Month in the US, commemorating the 1969 Stonewall Uprising, which was a tipping point for the gay liberation movement. Many other countries also observe Pride Month in June.

According to the Association, such a restatement of values has become necessary because such values run through open-source and guide the internal policies and working of the Drupal Community. The statement says,

"At the core of our beliefs lies the principle that every individual, regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity, or expression, deserves to be treated with dignity and respect."

The statement also asserts the Association's support for legal protections that ensure LGBTQ+ individuals equal rights and opportunities as their heterosexual and cisgender counterparts. Click here to read the statement.
