Automattic's Bonus Funding Takes Pitch-burgh Funds Near $100K

Automattic Drupal

Automattic’s unexpected funding has taken the Pitch-burgh corpus nearly $100,000. The funding announcement came soon after Dries Buytaert concluded his keynote address at DrupalCon Pittsburgh. In the latest blog post, Dries discusses the story behind Automattic’s involvement in Pitch-burgh.

Automattic is the company behind the WordPress Content Management System (CMS) and Gutenberg. Gutenberg is WordPress’ block editor that introduces a modular approach to modifying a website.

In the blog post, Dries explains how he shared the Gutenberg proposal with WordPress co-founder Matt Mullenweg. Matt, who is also the CEO of Automattic, was excited about the idea of more Drupal sites using Gutenberg editor.

The bonus funding from Automattic helped, and the audience chose to fund ‘Policy-based access in core’ (Factorial, €13,000). Click here to read the blog post and learn more.
