UNICEF, the United Nations Children's Fund, has undertaken a substantial endeavour to enhance its knowledge management and information-sharing capabilities. The organization sought to make its extensive knowledge library accessible to external partners, including donors, stakeholders, and the general public. To achieve this, UNICEF collaborated with web development experts from QED42 to create two distinct Drupal websites: Clearing House and Knowledge at UNICEF.

The primary challenge in this project was to seamlessly integrate the knowledge management platform with the SharePoint Library while ensuring the security of UNICEF's public-facing website. The development teams addressed these requirements by constructing Clearing House, which serves as an intermediary layer bridging UNICEF's internal SharePoint Libraries and Drupal. On the other hand, Knowledge at UNICEF functions as a publicly accessible, multilingual platform for content search and publishing.

The project's overarching goal was to create a cohesive user experience, facilitating information-sharing across UNICEF's diverse digital landscape. This was achieved by implementing a coherent design approach that enables users to access a single source of truth across multiple country sites while maintaining a consistent experience. Additionally, the integration of a full-text search feature empowers users to perform comprehensive searches, enhancing access to critical information.

This project exemplifies UNICEF's dedication to making its extensive knowledge and information accessible to external partners and the general public, all while maintaining stringent security measures. The successful integration of technology solutions has resulted in a unified and user-friendly experience, supporting UNICEF's mission to provide essential services to children worldwide.
