DrupalCon Lille 2023: Charting the Future with a Focus on Marketing and Inclusivity
DrupalCon Lille 2023 recently concluded, leaving attendees with a sense of excitement and purpose. The event, well-attended by Drupal enthusiasts from across Europe and beyond, featured a diverse range of presentations, spontaneous BoF meetings, and ample networking opportunities. Founder Dries Buytaert's keynote shed light on Drupal's strategic direction for the future, with a notable focus on marketing. Drupal, an open-source framework known for its flexibility and extensive plugin ecosystem, is poised to reach a broader audience, thanks to the new marketing focus and efforts by the Drupal Marketing Committee and global marketers.
Furthermore, Drupal is dedicated to strengthening its community and fostering international collaboration. Last year, the Network for European Drupal Associations (NEDA) was established to support local organizations and initiatives. The Drupal Netherlands Foundation has actively participated in these efforts by sharing source code with the French Association, enabling them to create a French-language website. Additionally, Drupal is working to make its platform more inclusive and accessible for non-technical users while simplifying the content management system (CMS). Initiatives like Project Browser aim to transform Drupal into an out-of-the-box product for rapid deployment. This commitment to inclusivity is reflected in the Women in Drupal Award and a focus on diversity in both code and the Drupal community.
Drupal enthusiasts can look forward to DrupalCon Barcelona in the coming year, where the Drupal Netherlands Foundation will continue its involvement in international collaborations and stay updated on the latest Drupal developments. Read more here.
