Scholarships and Grants Available for DrupalCon Atlanta 2025
DrupalCon Atlanta 2025 is set to foster greater inclusivity with its expanded Scholarships and Community Grants programs, offering full financial support to individuals from historically oppressed communities. Organized by the Drupal Association, the event will provide a platform for underrepresented groups to participate in the conference, which highlights innovation and collaboration in the open-source community.
The scholarships target individuals facing financial or economic hardships, including cisgender women, transgender and non-binary people, intersex people, people of color, immigrants, refugees, and disabled individuals. These recipients will receive comprehensive support, including a one-year membership to the Drupal Association, complimentary event registration, lodging, travel, and mentorship to ensure a welcoming experience at the conference.
By offering these scholarships, the Drupal Association aims to address systemic barriers and ensure the voices of marginalized individuals are represented. The association also acknowledges the intersectionality framework, which emphasizes that many individuals face overlapping areas of oppression that impact their ability to participate in global initiatives like DrupalCon.
Community members and donors are encouraged to contribute to the scholarship fund. Supporters can make direct donations or, if they are speakers, sponsors, or volunteers, donate their free conference tickets. Contributions will help extend scholarships to more people in need, further diversifying the event's attendees.
In addition to scholarships, the Drupal Association is offering Community Grants. These grants provide $500 travel stipends and free general admission tickets, specifically aimed at key Drupal contributors who might not otherwise be able to attend. The grants prioritize non-U.S.-based contributors and those involved in initiatives such as the Event Organizers Working Group, the Community Working Group, and various strategic initiatives within the Drupal community. If you have any questions about community grants, please reach out to [email protected].
By offering these financial aids, DrupalCon Atlanta 2025 seeks to build a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment within the open-source ecosystem. Interested applicants can apply for scholarships and grants here.
