Accessible Slideshows at DrupalCon Atlanta 2025: Best Practices and Solutions
DrupalCon Atlanta 2025 will host a compelling session on accessibility in web design, "Accessible Slideshows—Button, Button, Who’s Got the Button?" on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 - from 16:10 to 17:00 at Hanover AB (LL2) Room under the User Experience, Accessibility & Design Track. With usability concerns highlighted by W3 Schools—stating that carousels often hinder content discoverability—this session by AmyJune Hineline aims to break down their components and provide best practices for ensuring accessibility. Attendees will also explore available Drupal contrib solutions to enhance slideshow usability in web projects.
DrupalCon Atlanta 2025, which will take place March 24-27 at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta, is the premier open-source event in North America. It will bring together developers, designers, and digital professionals to share insights and innovations.
A key organizer of the A11y Talks Accessibility podcast, AmyJune Hineline is a Certification Community Architect at the Linux Foundation and a 2021 Aaron Winborn Award Winner. She is also one of the organizers of Florida Drupal Camp and DrupalCamp Asheville. She first introduced this session at the San Fransisco Drupal User Group (SFDUG) Meetup in 2021 while she was working with Kanopi Studios and later for Florida Drupal Camp 2022 while she worked with RedHat, for which the video is available.
