Drupal Expands Content Editing Capabilities with CKEditor 5 Plugin Pack
In a recent blog post published on dev.acquia.com, Charles Gantt, Technical Content Marketer at CKSource (the creators of CKEditor), introduced a major enhancement for Drupal content creators: the CKEditor 5 Plugin Pack. Despite appearing on Acquia’s development blog, this is not an Acquia initiative; rather, the company has provided space for CKSource to share details on how the new pack extends Drupal’s core CKEditor 5 module. Included are 12 free plugins—from Auto Image and Find and Replace to Word Count and Highlight—plus two premium features (Full-Screen Mode and Templates) offered at no extra cost.
According to Gantt, the Plugin Pack is compatible with Drupal 9.4 and later, installed via Composer, and streamlines everything from text formatting to editorial workflows. Key features include Auto Image, which converts URLs into embedded images, Word Count to monitor content length, and a Highlight plugin for improved emphasis. The free premium features—Full-Screen Mode and Templates—typically require paid licenses, but are provided at no charge through this release.
With these enhancements, CKSource continues to bolster Drupal’s content management capabilities, giving site builders and editors powerful tools for more efficient and creative content production.
