CKSource Offers Extended Support for CKEditor 4 in Drupal
CKSource is providing extended support for CKEditor 4 in Drupal following its end of life (EOL), ensuring security updates remain available for users unable to upgrade to CKEditor 5.
In a February 18 blog post on Acquia’s website, Charles Gantt, technical content marketer at CKSource, emphasized the importance of continued security for CKEditor 4, which reached EOL in June 2023, with its Drupal module following in January 2024. Without ongoing updates, users face potential security vulnerabilities.
“To address this, CKSource offers CKEditor 4 LTS, a dedicated version providing security patches until the end of 2028,”
Gantt wrote.
“By incorporating this module into your Drupal project, your CKEditor 4 instance will receive essential security patches on time.”
The Extended Support Model (ESM) includes security vulnerability assurance and optional add-ons such as Third-Party API Change Assurance and Standard Support for ongoing customer assistance.
CKSource urges developers and organizations still relying on CKEditor 4 to consider ESM as they plan for migration.
“Together, we can create a robust and secure environment for your Drupal projects,”
Gantt stated.
