We were super excited for DrupalCamp England to be back in full force and it did not disappoint! Our team at Zoocha attended both as organisers and sponsors of the day, we’re massively grateful to everyone on the organising team for giving up their time and energy to facilitate a fantastic day of talks and networking. Being based at the University of Cambridge for the day, we were treated to the beautiful city in unseasonably fantastic weather, so the day was set up for success from the offset.

A highlight of any Drupal event is always the people. It’s always a great opportunity to catch up with friends and meet new people who are equally passionate about Drupal, as well as excited for where Drupal is going next. For our team, highlights of the day included the following.

Our Senior Developer, Gareth Alexander, covered an overview of Drupal Recipes and their application within Drupal CMS. As a track lead on Drupal CMS, Gareth was able to share the most exciting new recipes already in Drupal CMS and what’s coming in the pipeline.

AI is the buzzword of the last few years, but Jamie at FreelyGive is always able to bring something new to the table and keep everyone excited about the next phase of AI in Drupal. Jamie gave an insight into ‘Swarms’ in Drupal AI, showing live demos of how Drupal AI can help manage and generate content rapidly in an easy to use interface. There’s absolutely no doubt that this will be game changing.

Towards the end of the day, David Bishop covered how we as agencies and clients alike need to be focusing on creating a culture of continuous improvement as central to a successful digital strategy. A key takeaway from this session was how, through listening to users and collecting meaningful insights from digital analytics, we can consistently improve user experience to stay on top of innovation and user needs.

The blend of technical and non-technical sessions ensured that there was something for everyone, regardless of their familiarity with Drupal or technical knowhow. As we wrapped up, there was a genuine sense of accomplishment and community, alongside the excitement for DrupalCon Vienna taking place later this year.

We ended the day at BrewDog in Cambridge. With great food and drinks, the organizers were able to relax knowing the day had been pulled off without a hitch and we were able to catch up with each other on all things Drupal.

We would highly recommend supporting and attending your local DrupalCamp, these events are central to the thriving Drupal community and always an opportunity to learn something new!
