Acquia Releases DAM Module 1.1.0 With Enhanced Asset Delivery and New Media Types
Acquia has announced the release of version 1.1.0 of its Digital Asset Management (DAM) module for Drupal, introducing major enhancements that provide users with greater control and flexibility in serving and managing digital assets. The release was confirmed by Vipin Mittal, Engineering Manager at Acquia, in a recent LinkedIn update.
The standout feature of this release is the expanded asset delivery options. Unlike previous versions, which either served assets through Drupal’s file system or exclusively via CDN URLs (as in version 1.0.0), the new release allows organizations to choose how assets are delivered—via CDN or directly from their own website domains. This enables teams to better align delivery methods with performance needs, compliance considerations, or branding preferences.
Another key update is the inclusion of two new media types: Audio and Generic. These additions aim to standardize asset categorization and streamline management, particularly for businesses dealing with diverse content types.
“Whether you need to serve rich media from your website domain or rely on a CDN, this release ensures your digital asset management meets evolving business requirements seamlessly,” said Mittal in his post.
In addition to these headline features, Acquia DAM 1.1.0 introduces:
- Download and Sync Functionality: Previously part of the media_acquiadam module, this is now native to the DAM module, providing more robust control over local asset storage.
- Extensible Media Types: Developers can now add custom media source plugins, improving adaptability for complex project requirements.
- Bulk Importer Support: The acquiadam_asset_import tool is now officially supported as a submodule, simplifying asset migration.
The update also resolves more than 50 issues reported by users, enhancing compatibility with Drupal 10.3 and 11, fixing bugs related to media libraries, asset previews, metadata rendering, and embed code functionality. Numerous developer-focused improvements, such as CI test suite updates and configuration refinements, are also part of this release.
Acquia DAM 1.1.0 supports Drupal versions 9.5 and above and is available via Composer or direct download from Drupal.org.
