Lukas Fischer Analyzes Drupal Usage Trends in New Video
Lukas Fischer, founder of Netnode has released a video analyzing current Drupal usage statistics, focusing on the contrast between legacy and modern versions of the CMS. Drawing from BuiltWith and Drupal.org data, Fischer shows that while total Drupal installations have declined since 2021, usage of modern versions—Drupal 8 and above—is increasing.
He notes that Drupal 7, now officially unsupported, still accounts for a large share of active sites but is steadily declining. Meanwhile, Drupal 10 and 11 show growth, particularly among high-traffic sites, with Drupal powering nearly 7% of the top 10,000 websites.
Fischer also highlights that modern Drupal’s adoption outpaces Adobe Experience Manager in that same segment. His breakdown suggests that while the overall numbers are shrinking, the latest versions of Drupal are gaining ground, pointing to a shift toward updated, more maintainable deployments.
