COSCUP 2025 Set for August, Celebrating Open Source in Taiwan
Taiwan’s premier open source conference, COSCUP 2025, is set to return this August, continuing its long-standing mission to connect developers, users, and advocates of free/libre and open-source software (FLOSS). The two-day event, scheduled for 9th and 10th August is organized entirely by volunteers, brings together local and international voices to promote open-source collaboration through talks, workshops, and community-led activities.
Held annually since 2006, the Conference for Open Source Coders, Users, and Promoters (COSCUP) has grown into a key platform for Taiwan’s open source movement. The event features a diverse lineup of sessions covering open technologies, community practices, and digital rights, along with sponsor booths and Birds of a Feather (BoF) discussions that allow participants to gather around shared interests.
Speakers, staff, and organizers are all volunteers, reflecting COSCUP’s strong community values and grassroots origins. The event remains free to attend and open to anyone passionate about open source — whether seasoned contributors or curious newcomers.
COSCUP encourages proposals across a wide range of open source topics, from technical deep-dives and project showcases to cultural insights and social impact stories. The default session duration is 30 minutes. All talks are expected to define a clear audience and offer meaningful takeaways.
The event follows a strict Code of Conduct built on mutual respect and inclusion, aiming to ensure a safe, harassment-free experience for all participants.
