Drupal Deep Dive Project Connects Scuba Divers in the Drupal Community

A new community-driven project called 'Drupal Deep Dive' is bringing together Drupal developers who share a passion for scuba diving. Created by Matthew Saunders and launched on April 1, 2025, the project aims to coordinate diving meetups around major Drupal events, such as DrupalCon and local camps.

Hosted at Drupal.org, Drupal Deep Dive serves as a hub for planning dive expeditions, scouting eco-friendly dive locations, sharing travel logistics, and connecting like-minded community members. The initiative encourages participation from anyone in the Drupal ecosystem who dives or is interested in underwater adventures.

The project also introduces “Drupie,” the official mascot—a cheerful, snorkel-wearing octopus featured on the project’s promotional badge as a “Certified Deep Diver” and proud member of the Drupal Deep Dive crew.

Matthew noted that he has already tied scuba diving to the past two Drupal events he’s attended and is planning something similar for Drupal Colorado in July. For dive plans, photos, and community updates, visit Drupal Deep Dive on Drupal.org.
