DrupalCamp Costa Rica 2026 Scheduled for 26–28 February at UCR Liberia
With DrupalCamp Costa Rica 2026 just days away, the Drupal community across Costa Rica and the wider Latin American region is preparing to gather from 26 to 28 February 2026 at the University of Costa Rica (UCR) campus in Liberia. The three-day event, organised under the DrupalCamp Costa Rica banner, will feature hands-on workshops, contribution spaces, keynote sessions, and networking opportunities. Full programme details and registration information are available through the official event website at https://drupalcamp.cr/.
The camp opens on Thursday, 26 February, with a day focused on training and contribution. Among the featured workshops is “Drupal in a Day,” led by Jean Steven López Alpízar. Designed as an introductory, hands-on session, the training is aimed at students, content editors, project managers, and newcomers who want to understand Drupal’s core concepts without writing code. The workshop walks participants through content architecture, including content types, fields, and taxonomies, as well as site building elements such as menus, blocks, user roles, permissions, and Views. It also introduces module installation and theming fundamentals, providing a structured entry point into Drupal’s open source ecosystem.
Also scheduled for the opening day is “Developing Themes with Single Directory Components (SDC) in Drupal,” presented by Alejandro Esteban Madrigal Leiva. This session focuses on component-based frontend development using Drupal’s Single Directory Components architecture, now part of Drupal core. Participants will explore how HTML, CSS, and JavaScript assets can be organised within unified component directories and how this approach supports maintainable design systems. The workshop also examines integration with tools such as Storybook, UI Patterns, Drupal Canvas, and DDEV for local development, offering practical exposure to modern theming workflows.
To register for this workshop, you must fill out the workshop registration form (the form only appears if you are logged in with your account).
Friday, 27 February, and Saturday, 28 February, will be dedicated to keynote addresses and technical sessions. A featured keynote titled “AI Ships Fast. Then What?” is scheduled for Friday and will be delivered by Lauri Timmanee of Acquia. Lauri, a product manager leading next-generation Drupal-based CMS tooling, brings more than a decade of experience in engineering and marketing technology. His keynote examines the growing role of artificial intelligence in accelerating Drupal site builds while highlighting the architectural and governance challenges that remain beyond AI-generated outputs. The session addresses content governance, multilingual workflows, editorial maintenance, and long-term sustainability of enterprise-grade platforms.
In addition to the keynote and workshops, the programme includes sessions delivered by regional Drupal practitioners and ecosystem contributors representing organisations involved in development, consulting, and cloud platform services. Sponsor tiers range from Diamond to Digital, with the University of Costa Rica serving as host institution and Diamond sponsor. Acquia is listed among the Platinum sponsors, and The DropTimes is participating as a media partner.
Organisers have reiterated that, thanks to sponsor backing, participation remains free of charge, lowering financial barriers and encouraging attendance from students, independent developers, agencies, and digital professionals. With final preparations underway and the full schedule published, DrupalCamp Costa Rica 2026 is set to bring together the regional Drupal community for three days of structured learning, AI-focused discussion, technical exchange, and collaboration in Liberia.
