Next-Drupal: Navigating Drupal's Future in the Dynamic Digital Scene
Managing Partner at Chapter Three, John Faber, provided insights into the Next-Drupal project in a recent interview with Agiledrop. Originating as a pandemic-inspired side project, Next-Drupal aims to integrate Next.js with Drupal, with Faber emphasizing the importance of community collaboration to avoid it being exclusive to Chapter Three.
Faber also shed light on his vision for Drupal's future, predicting a move towards specialization. In his view, Drupal will thrive by becoming a specialized product catering to specific verticals like government, education, nonprofit, and healthcare. This strategic shift, he believes, is essential for Drupal to compete effectively in the constantly evolving digital scenario.
In highlighting Chapter Three's additional endeavours, Faber stated,
"We support 90 projects and boast around 7,700 commits on Drupal Core presently. This scale is quite significant. One project we're particularly proud of is our Apigee Developer Portal. Although it operates somewhat discreetly, the Apigee Dev Portal is noteworthy for exposing Drupal to major stakeholders in tech departments, showcasing its value to a broader audience."
