DrupalCon Pitch-burgh Contest Awardees Forge Ahead with Ambitious Projects

The enterprising winners of the Pitch-burgh contest are on a mission to showcase how open-source competitions can yield cost-effective advantages for the Drupal project even when the Northern Hemisphere is busy with their summer break.

Behind the scenes, contracts are nearing completion, and the initial grants are making their way into the winners' bank accounts. This marks a significant milestone for the Drupal Association, ensuring compliance and financial transparency. What's truly captivating is the substantial progress made across these projects in a short time. 

The DrupalCon First Time Contributor workshop is taking shape, emphasizing accessibility. Presentation decks are under construction, incorporating valuable insights from mentors and the community. Simultaneously, issue queue etiquette documentation is evolving, addressing contributors' pain points and fostering constructive discussions.

Access policies now boast green patches for the new API and API integration in the core. The focus now turns to comprehensive documentation to ensure seamless integration into the core. The Drupal API Client is gearing up for implementation, starting with a limited-scope Proof of Concept (POC) to gather early feedback. The #api-client channel in Drupal Slack is buzzing with discussions and meetings.

The discovery phase is complete for the Decoupled Layout Builder project, and Drupal.org is now equipped with meta-issues and sub-tasks. Development is poised to commence in September. The Gutenberg project, set to launch in September, is collaborating with Automattic.

Development kicks off this month for JSON Schemas and Data Storage in Core, with an ambitious completion date of December. Even before contracting was completed, crucial discussions occurred regarding database driver versions, aligning with the Drupal 11 release cycle.
