The Drupal community is mourning the loss of one of its cherished members, Hawkeye Tenderwolf. Hawkeye was remembered for his kind-hearted nature and infectious laugh that resonated throughout the community. He was a Senior Drupal Developer at Lullabot.

A celebration of his life is set to take place on October 20, 2023, from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. ET in Mars Hill, NC. Those unable to attend will have the opportunity to remember him during the upcoming Asheville DrupalCamp next summer.

Hawkeye Tenderwolf's journey in the Drupal community was marked by his dedication and passion for software development. After earning a computer science degree from Georgia Tech, he worked in climate research but eventually rekindled his love for software through a Drupal 6 side project.

Hawkeye, with over a decade of experience as a back-end developer, was known for his ability to enhance the development experience for front-end developers. His recent projects included the integration of front-end component libraries into Drupal, showcasing his expertise in framework-agnostic front-end code integration.

Additionally, he was an advocate for automation and tooling, streamlining development and deployment processes. Hawkeye's commitment to open-source values extended beyond his professional life, influencing his personal choices and support for various causes.

Throughout his career, Hawkeye Tenderwolf made significant contributions to various organizations, including Kalamuna, Mediacurrent, and the Georgia Institute of Technology. His projects spanned clients like The Weather Channel, Habitat for Humanity, the Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco, and Fair Trade USA. After joining Lullabot, Hawkeye continued to be an invaluable asset to projects for Digital Services Georgia and Ames Laboratory.

In his personal life, Hawkeye was a proponent of community living and resource sharing, cohabiting with six housemates in Chattanooga, TN. He was also a passionate advocate of the power of dance, often found enjoying history podcasts and participating in 5Rhythms waves and contact improv jams during his downtime.
