Drupal CMS Launches Community Survey on Default Search Configuration
Drupal CMS has launched a community survey to develop a default search configuration for its platform. The survey, designed by digital agency 1XINTERNET, aims to make search functionalities more accessible and flexible. It focuses on developing a robust and adaptable search configuration that caters to a wide range of users.
Formerly known as Starshot, Drupal CMS continues to evolve. This latest initiative addresses the need for a flexible search experience that suits developers and non-developers alike. The goal is to create a foundational search setup that can easily be customized or extended while also providing a reference point for building more advanced search solutions.
The survey consists of six questions and takes approximately five minutes to complete. It is specifically geared towards understanding the needs of different user personas within the Drupal community. Two key groups are highlighted: the "Ambitious Marketer" and the "Ambitious No-Code Developer." Both groups share the desire for intuitive, user-friendly search functionalities that do not require constant developer input. However, they also seek the ability to create engaging, dynamic search experiences across different parts of a website, such as event listings, product catalogs, and site-wide searches.
While the survey addresses the needs of marketers and no-code developers, it also considers the majority of Drupal users, who are developers themselves. The goal is to strike a balance between creating a default search configuration that non-developers can use and one that developers can easily extend for more complex projects.
The survey is now live, and community members are encouraged to contribute their insights and help shape the next iteration of Drupal's search functionality.
