Violinist.io Introduces Self-Hosted Runners for Enhanced CI Flexibility

Violinist in use.

Violinist.io, a tool designed to simplify automated updates, has announced a new feature enabling users to self-host runners, addressing key concerns about data security and accessibility.

Users have often asked whether their code needs to be shared with Violinist.io's infrastructure or if the tool can work within their self-hosted, VPN-protected environments. Introducing self-hosted runners solves both issues, allowing users to run update jobs locally or within their CI infrastructure, including GitHub Actions and self-hosted GitLab.

Users can now initiate updates without sharing code with third parties with a simple Docker command. Violinist.io founder Eirik Stanghelle Morland highlighted how this new feature continues the platform's tradition of providing fast and easy onboarding. To support adoption, a free two-month trial license is offered with the release. Eirik will address further details, including open-source aspects and licensing, in future blog posts.
