World's Largest Free Drupal Event Begins Today
BADCamp 2024, the world's largest free Drupal event is officially underway today in Downtown Oakland, bringing together the Drupal community. Hosted at Oakstop, a dynamic coworking and event space on Broadway, the conference features a wide array of sessions, workshops, and activities that cater to developers, designers, and tech enthusiasts alike.

The event kicks off at 9:00 am PDT with a keynote by Kristen Pol titled 'Bricks to Bits: How LEGO’s Reinvention Can Inspire Drupal's Digital Transformation', setting the tone for a day filled with insights into the future of Drupal and its applications. Other early sessions include discussions on inclusive UX writing by Cheryl Cline and a presentation on Mercury Editor by Seth Hill.

Attendees can expect deep dives into cutting-edge topics such as content editing, open-source software challenges, and website migration throughout the day. Presentations include The Next Decade of Drupal by Tim Lehnen and Cooking with Drupal 11 Recipes for Membership Organizations by JD Leonard. Popular sessions also address essential technical debates, like Andre Angelantoni’s talk on Cypress vs. Playwright for testing, while other sessions offer practical solutions for developers and organizations using Drupal.
BADCamp is known for fostering community connections, and this year is no different. Alongside the technical sessions, the event features usability testing opportunities for non-Drupal users to give feedback and help improve the platform. Volunteers, with roles such as registration desk help, room monitors, and venue setup, are also essential to the event's success.

The day will culminate in the official BADCamp party at Oakland United Beer Works, sponsored by generous community partners. The party begins at 6:00 pm and offers a chance for attendees to network and unwind after a full day of activities.
BADCamp 2024 offers a variety of exclusive gear, including shirts, hoodies, hats, mugs, and water bottles. Attendees can grab these items to commemorate their experience and show off their support for the Drupal community.

BADCamp continues to be a vital touchpoint for the Drupal community, promoting collaboration and innovation while celebrating the unique spirit of open-source technology. Learn more about the event here.
