Applause Flows as Margery Tongway Receives GovCMS Community Spirit Award
Margery Tongway receives the GovCMS Community Spirit Award at the GovCMS Mega Meetup 2024 in Canberra. A key contributor to the Drupal and GovCMS communities since 2012, Margery is celebrated for her extensive involvement in various initiatives. Among her many accomplishments, she led the launch of DrupalSouth Community Day Canberra in 2023.
"I led the way for this new conference to be run the day after the GovCMS Mega Meetup, and I guess made it all happen with the support of the DrupalSouth steering committee."
DrupalSouth Community Day Canberra 2024 was a huge success as well garnering more and continued participation.
Her contributions span speaking engagements, volunteering, technical input, and managing event logistics, demonstrating her deep commitment to strengthening the community.
Reflecting on her win, Margery says,
"I’m more than blown away that I won an award this arvo. I didn’t know I was even a contender, let alone expected to win against eight other peeps."
She also notes her motivation for volunteering, adding,
"I definitely don’t do it for any kind of recognition—I volunteer because I always get a lot out of the Drupal community and want others to have the same experience."
