Dropsolid Acquires Pictonio to Expand AI-Driven Drupal Solutions in Europe
Dropsolid, Belgium’s open-source digital experience platform (DXP) company, has strengthened its position in the European Drupal market with the acquisition of Pictonio, a Portuguese Drupal firm. The move enhances Dropsolid’s capabilities in AI-driven DXP solutions, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) seeking scalable and flexible digital transformation tools.
With a focus on SMEs facing increasing demands for digital agility, Dropsolid is positioning Drupal as an open AI-driven DXP. The company aims to follow a model similar to Odoo’s success, combining open-source and proprietary technologies. Its AI-driven agency automation platform helps businesses accelerate their go-to-market strategy and improve conversion rates, making enterprise-level digital tools accessible to growing organizations.
“We are targeting the large SME market that needs powerful AI-driven DXP solutions,”
says Dominique De Cooman, Co-CEO of Dropsolid.
“Much like Odoo’s success by offering 80% open-source and 20% proprietary solutions, we aim to position Drupal as an open AI-driven DXP for this growing market where we can truly make an impact.”
Traditional full-service digital agencies face financial and operational pressures in a shifting industry landscape. To support Drupal implementers, Dropsolid provides access to its automation platform and AI-driven DXP tools, enabling agencies to enhance their capabilities while remaining competitive. The acquisition of Pictonio serves as a test case for this approach, demonstrating how a smaller company can scale and compete effectively using Dropsolid’s tools.
Dropsolid plans further expansions through acquisitions and partnerships, aiming to increase its reach and capabilities. By integrating AI with Drupal, Mautic, and data management, the company is developing an open-source DXP ecosystem that prioritizes transparency and data sovereignty.
With a presence across four continents, Dropsolid is extending its international reach while maintaining a strong commitment to open-source principles. Unlike competitors adopting closed-source models, Dropsolid emphasizes digital sovereignty. To offer customers more control over their infrastructure, it partners with Google for sovereign cloud options. The acquisition of Pictonio not only provides access to Portugal’s growing tech talent but also enhances Dropsolid’s ability to deliver cost-efficient, high-quality AI-driven Drupal solutions.
