DrupalCamp Grenoble Keynote to Examine Drupal’s Visibility Beyond Its Core Community
A keynote session at DrupalCamp Grenoble 2026 will examine how the Drupal community positions itself within the wider technology landscape, with a focus on visibility, relevance, and long-term sustainability. The session, titled “Bursting the Bubble: Why Code Alone Won’t Save the Open Web,” is scheduled for 9 April at 09:45 CEST.
The keynote will be delivered by Alejandro Moreno López, who will build on themes from recent talks examining how Drupal is perceived outside its core community. The session description frames the issue as a gap between the platform’s technical strengths and its visibility in the broader technology market.
According to the session outline, the talk will explore what happens when Drupal is presented in generalist technology environments, where it competes for attention alongside a wide range of platforms and products. It describes this as stepping outside a “self-referential bubble” and confronting how the ecosystem is understood beyond its existing audience.
“We have created one of the most robust platforms on the web, yet we often find ourselves preaching to the converted in a comfortable, self-referential bubble.”
The keynote will also address structural challenges in open-source sustainability, including what is described as a “Tragedy of the Commons,” in which widespread reliance on shared infrastructure is not matched by investment in its external visibility. The session connects these concerns to technical decisions, suggesting that areas such as developer experience and API design can influence how platforms are perceived and adopted.
Themes outlined for the talk include data sovereignty and Drupal's positioning as infrastructure for enterprise AI, alongside a broader shift toward communicating solutions rather than focusing on the underlying technology. The session is open to attendees at all experience levels and is part of the camp’s keynote programme.
DrupalCamp Grenoble 2026 will take place from 9 April 2026 at 08:30 CEST to 11 April 2026 at 17:00 CEST in Saint-Martin-d'Hères, France. Additional details are available on the official event website.
