LocalGov Drupal Camp 2026 to Focus on AI Governance, Open Standards and Council Collaboration
Council digital teams, developers, and suppliers will gather in Sheffield for LocalGov Drupal Camp 2026, a two-day community event focused on public-sector digital services, open-source collaboration, and governance challenges. The event will take place on 11 and 12 June 2026 at Sheffield Hallam University.
The first day will include lightning talks, show-and-tell sessions, workshops and discussion groups. A contribution day will follow on 12 June, where attendees will work on new features and the issue queue for the LocalGov Drupal platform. Tickets are free for council staff and contribution day attendees, while standard tickets cost £180.
The programme includes sessions on AI-powered search, digital sovereignty, automated testing, content design, service directories and local government reorganisation. One session will examine governance frameworks for AI search on council websites, including model approval, data access and accountability when results affect residents.
Other sessions will cover a proposed open-source committee management system, the refreshed LocalGov Drupal Consultations module, part-funded by Walsall Council, and Essex County Council’s work with Open Referral UK standards for service directories. The schedule also includes sessions on Drupal.org testing, LocalGov Drupal intranet work, bus data, forms, content governance and product-led service delivery.
