Documenting DrupalCamp England: A Behind-the-Scenes Story
Covering an event like DrupalCamp England requires extensive preparation, collaboration, and immense support from dedicated individuals. From pre-event planning to live coverage and post-event wrap-ups, a great deal of effort went into ensuring this event was documented and shared with the community.
Here’s a look at what went on behind the scenes and the amazing people who helped make it happen.
Pre-Event Preparation
The groundwork began with reaching out to Rajeev Kumar, one of the event organizers, to discuss how we could collaborate and support the event coverage. Through these discussions, we partnered with the DrupalCamp England team as media partners to ensure event highlights and updates reached the broader community, including those who couldn't attend in person.

To make the coverage more comprehensive, I connected with a few event sponsors and attendees, including Zoocha and 1xINTERNET. Hannah O'Leary from Zoocha and Hadda Hreiðarsdóttir from 1xINTERNET played a crucial role in supporting and coordinating our efforts by capturing photos and videos and sharing insights from the event.

Additionally, the TDT team worked closely with Rajeev Kumar, Jenny Dumitrescu, and Paul Johnson to create and publish a pre-event article that highlighted the immense effort behind organizing the camp. This helped generate buzz and set the stage for what attendees could expect.

And then there was Alejandro Moreno López—always willing to step in—who helped ensure we had solid plans for covering images, videos, and live updates from the booth.
Live Event Coverage
As the event unfolded, Alejandro Moreno López kept the updates rolling. Some highlights included:
- Capturing photos of the venue and attendees.
- Documenting a surprise celebration for Baddy Sonja Breidert’s birthday, along with her keynote session.
- Covering James Abrahams’ keynote session and its key takeaways.
These real-time updates allowed us to share the excitement of DrupalCamp England with the Drupal community, ensuring that even those who couldn’t attend felt connected to the event.

Post-Event Reflections
Once the event wrapped up, Alejandro Moreno López sent over a collection of photos and videos, ensuring we had plenty of material to showcase how it all went down.
Paul Johnson from 1xINTERNET, who was also one of the event organizers shared additional pictures and valuable insights, including key takeaways and plans for future DrupalCamps.
Hannah from Zoocha also put together a post-event report, complete with photos, adding even more depth to our coverage.

Final Thoughts
Pulling off coverage for an event like DrupalCamp England—especially remotely—is no easy task. None of this would have been possible without the help of Rajeev Kumar, Alejandro Moreno López, Paul Johnson, Jenny, Hannah O'Leary, Hadda Hreidarsdottir, and so many others who played a part in making it a success. A special shout out to 1xINTERNET and Zoocha for their incredible support.
A massive thank you to every single person who contributed, whether by sharing updates, capturing moments, or simply supporting the effort. Your dedication and enthusiasm made this coverage possible, and I couldn’t be more grateful.
This whole experience shows what makes Drupal special—the people, the collaboration, and the willingness to support each other.
