JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Configure and extend the Drupal Search API module to connect with Algolia as the backend search engine
  • Build and maintain the Search API Algolia connector — real-time content indexing, field mappings, index management
  • Implement InstantSearch.js frontend search widgets within the Drupal theme — search bar, autocomplete, faceted results, results page
  • Develop custom Drupal modules to push external data (course catalog, faculty directory, events) into Algolia indices via REST API
  • Configure Drupal multisite architecture for unified cross-domain search
  • Integrate SSO/authentication signals with Algolia personalization API for audience-aware results
  • Build Drupal Views and content type configurations feeding the Algolia search index

 

Required:

  • 3+ years Drupal development (Drupal 10/11 preferred)
  • Drupal Search API module experience
  • Algolia integration — Search API Algolia module or Algolia REST API / JavaScript SDK
  • InstantSearch.js search UI implementation
  • PHP, Composer, Drupal module development
  • REST API integration from Drupal
  • Git and Agile/Scrum
  • US Citizenship or Permanent Residency required

 

Nice to have:

  • Algolia NeuralSearch or personalization API
  • Drupal multisite architecture
  • WCAG 2.1 AA accessible frontend development
  • Higher education or Virginia government experience
