To Tell a Story or Not

What should be the ideal length of a newsletter? I'm not sure. I like to tell stories, hear stories, and read stories. Some stories are better told short, while some other needs elaborate buildups. Then there are some readers/listeners who need just the crux and don't bother much about the paraphernalia.

An editor of a newspaper who happened to read my column with which this newsletter is delivered told me that I shouldn't digress from the core subject with anecdotes and courtesies but limit the 'editorial' as what he terms to a maximum of 250 words. Already it reached 100!

So today, there are no more stories.

Last week, we got featured on the 'Talking Drupal' podcast. Anoop John, our founder and the founder & CTO of Zyxware, sat in the hot seat with Nic Laflin, John Picozzi, and guest host Katherine Druckman to explain his vision behind TDT. He also shared this presentation with the interview panel.

A critical initiative in Europe is a move to network individual national-level Drupal Associations Boards across the continent. Esmeralda Braad-Tijhoff is coordinating the effort.

An interview with Brian Perry, the maintainer of Decoupled Menus Initiative of Drupal, was published last Saturday. He spoke about the new releases of decoupled-menu-parser and linkset modules in npm. It is a must-read if you are into decoupling.

Now from across the Drupalverse: Jay Callicott, VP of Technical Operations at Media Current, published a tutorial on setting up social media applications with Twitter-like features using Drupal. We revisited a blog post from Rootstack listing the benefits of Drupal Commerce and shared Mike Herchel's story of making and maintaining a lawn care website for his friend. Another worthy share was Drupal Academy's blog post explaining the process of creating a custom module in Drupal 9. WeebPal Technology, a Vietnamese company, posted a demonstration of the Drupal Component Builder module. This resource from geek for geeks talks about Integrating Drupal 7 with MongoDB. Specbee has a tutorial on custom module development and applying CSS assets to your Drupal 9 website. We also shared code enigma's article on Website Maintenance and Support. Support Host published a Drupal SEO guide on their pages. Russel Jones has put out a video on Generating a Drupal 10 sub-theme. Atlas Softweb has published an overview explaining how Drupal helps e-commerce. Elevated Third achieved Acquia DXP Practice Certification. We let a sneak-peak into the 'Drupal partners' blog post predicting the future scope of Drupal as a CMS technology. We brought attention to Altudo's Zeus package for migrating to Drupal 9. PreviousNext published a case study of transforming the Bond University website from Drupal 7 to Drupal 9.

There were many reported events last week, some of which are over, and some will occur soon. You can browse through all the events at https://www.thedroptimes.com/events. If you click on the relevant event, you may find related news.

Before signing off, Drupal Association is participating in Black History Month and is honoring Black voices in history. They have shared a biography of Granville Woods, an engineer, and inventor who contributed to developing the telephone, streetcar, and more. Do follow their tweets to read on.

Yours Sincerely,
