Axelerant Introduces MACH Architecture with Headless Drupal 11 and Next.js
Axelerant has introduced a composable MACH architecture that combines Drupal 11 as a headless CMS with Next.js front ends, enabling enterprises to manage multiple branded websites from a single content repository while preserving centralized governance and scalability.
The platform distributes functionality across microservices, exposes content via JSON:API or GraphQL endpoints for API-first integration, and leverages cloud-native hosting with containerized Drupal back ends and globally deployed Next.js sites for on-demand performance and resilience.
The open-source Next-Drupal integration provides unified content previews, multilingual workflows and AI-assisted editorial tools, allowing editors to create content once and publish tailored presentations across each site.
A European education consortium adopted the solution to launch distinct brand sites featuring both B2C and B2B e-commerce, real-time translation, CRM and analytics integrations, and personalized learner portals driven by a single Drupal instance.
Axelerant also guided the Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre through a migration from a Drupal 10 monolith to a decoupled Gatsby front end, achieving a 49 percent increase in SEO performance and a 38 percent boost in site responsiveness.
