Drupal Core Promotes Pierre Dureau to Full Frontend Framework Manager
Core leaders have promoted Pierre Dureau from provisional to full Frontend Framework Manager after a little more than a year in the role. Drupal core issue #3614814 says the leadership team based the decision on his communication, leadership, and decision-making during the provisional period. The issue says Pierre accepted the promotion.
Drupal governance describes a provisional maintainer as someone who does not yet have full authority for the role. For core committers, full status carries broader permissions, including role-specific sign-off without consulting a full maintainer and commit access under Drupal core’s policies. Pierre’s promotion therefore changes his governance authority as well as removing the provisional designation.
Pierre joined the Drupal Core Leadership Team as a provisional Frontend Framework Manager in April 2025, one of four new leaders announced during the project’s leadership update. The DropTimes reported the appointment at the time. The original Drupal announcement tied his appointment to the project’s renewed emphasis on frontend components and display building.
The promotion was implemented by removing the provisional designation from MAINTAINERS.txt. Commits landed on 6 August 2026 in the 11.4.x, 11.x, and main branches. The issue was marked fixed shortly afterward, and Pierre later acknowledged the change in the issue thread.
