Drupal GovCon Keynotes Explore Disruption and Team Resilience
Two Drupal GovCon keynotes presented disruption from opposite directions: change that teams deliberately pursue and change they have to absorb. Martin Anderson-Clutz, senior product marketing manager for Drupal at Acquia, connects the talks in an article first published on the Acquia Blog on 31 August 2026 and republished on Drupal.org on 3 September 2026. He argues that the two perspectives show why leading change requires both deliberate action and relationships strong enough to withstand disruption.
Mike Madison, senior director of global web at Zscaler, framed disruption as replacing established ways of working and encouraged teams to make continuous improvement part of normal practice. He also emphasised building support around an idea rather than treating organisational change as an individual effort. Kerry Greer, account director at Forum One, approached disruption as something teams may not choose. Her keynote focused on trust, clarity, shared knowledge, and purpose as parts of the “human architecture” that need to exist before pressure arrives.
Anderson-Clutz applies those themes to the Drupal AI Initiative and its Inside AI and Outside AI tracks. He argues that Drupal's established approaches to structured content, configuration, permissions, and workflow provide useful foundations for systems that AI agents can understand and work with, while the initiative's funded and collaborative structure provides an organisational model for pursuing that change. His broader conclusion is that technical adaptation and the relationships required to carry it through are connected parts of the same challenge for Drupal teams.
