Smile Reflects on Drupalcamp Rennes 2024: Bridging Community and Technology
The recent Drupalcamp in Rennes, hosted from March 28 to 30, 2024, and sponsored by the Drupal France Association alongside Smile, gathered 250 enthusiasts to explore digital technology responsibly. The event, detailed in a blog post by Vincent Maucorps, Digital Experience Manager at Smile, offered extensive discussions on accessibility and design systems in Drupal. Participants took part in a variety of informational sessions and dedicated the final day to community contributions.
During the event, Marcy Charollois led an impactful session that addressed racial bias within digital technology, shedding light on its effects on user experiences, particularly regarding race, gender, and disabilities. This session emphasized the necessity for digital platforms to be aware of and actively combat these biases.
Smile, with over three decades in the open-source ecosystem, reaffirmed its commitment to responsible digital practices, such as eco-design and low-carbon architectures. The company showcased Sobki, a new no-code Drupal installation profile, aimed at enabling non-technical users to easily leverage Drupal's functionalities.
