The la_eu Site Project Takes a Step Further at Barcelona
Exciting news from DrupalCon Barcelona about the site project for local associations. At the BoF ‘Getting started with la_eu: local association site’ led by Bjorn Brala, current associations, builders and potential users came together to discuss the roadmap of the Drupal La_eu project. This project exists as a shared codebase that local associations can use for their website. Multiple countries have launched their local site using this template and translated the English content to their language.

First developed by the Dutch Drupal Association, the site is aimed at businesses that might use Drupal. The idea for this setup is that the website helps spread Drupal as a brand and provides good content in your local language. With the project, Drupal associations can have one recognizable and modern front end. In addition, the workload for local associations will be lowered since further development and updates can be done together.

At the BoF, new features were discussed, and a plan of action was made. The project will now have monthly check-ins with a synchronized discussion on Slack. The Dutch will look into automated updates for all the sites. Furthermore, sessions are planned to fine-tune the needed features and create user stories and a roadmap that will be used for further development. The associations also discussed the possibility of having an agency help build the new features so that they could be included in the project as soon as possible.

This Friday, a contribution table for the la_eu site project will be in the Contribution room. Drop by and help improve and expand the websites of local associations!
