Nominations Open for the 2025 Aaron Winborn Award
The Drupal Community Working Group (CWG) has announced that nominations are now open for the 2025 Aaron Winborn Award. Community members are invited to honor individuals who have demonstrated exceptional dedication, integrity, and kindness within the Drupal community. This award recognizes individuals who have gone above and beyond in contributing to the Drupal project and community.
Recipients of the Aaron Winborn Award receive more than just a physical token of recognition. The award includes a scholarship and travel stipend, allowing the winner to attend DrupalCon North America, where they will be recognized during a plenary session. This annual award serves as an opportunity for the community to celebrate those who have made significant contributions on both local and global scales.
The award, created in memory of Aaron Winborn, a beloved Drupal contributor who passed away from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) in 2015, is a tribute to his spirit and dedication to the community. The initiative to establish the award came from a suggestion by Hans Riemenschneider, and it is supported by the Drupal Association. Through this award, the CWG aims to keep Winborn's legacy alive by celebrating those who embody his values.
The nomination period will remain open until Friday, February 1, 2025. A selection committee comprising CWG Conflict Resolution Team members and previous award winners will review the nominations and select a winner. Notably, current CWG Conflict Resolution Team members and past award recipients are ineligible for nomination.
Previous winners include notable figures like Cathy Theys (2015), Gábor Hojtsy (2016), and most recently, Mike Anello (2024). Community members are encouraged to participate by submitting nominations and recognizing the impactful contributions of their peers.
