Drupal Association Seeks Volunteers to Help Shape New Site Template Marketplace
The Drupal Association is calling for volunteers to join a new Marketplace team, following a major announcement by Dries Buytaert during his State of Drupal presentation at DrupalCon Atlanta. Dries revealed that the Drupal CMS team is committed to shipping reusable site templates in 2025 and raised the possibility of launching a public Marketplace to support them.
This new initiative, introduced as the Drupal Marketplace Initiative, is exploring a central question: Should Drupal launch a public marketplace for reusable site templates? The concept envisions a curated space where developers can browse, contribute, and share templates that make building with Drupal faster, easier, and more consistent, especially for new users.
Before committing to a direction, the Drupal Association is asking for community input. Volunteers on the Marketplace team will collaborate with staff and contributors to evaluate the idea, provide feedback, and help define what success could look like for such a platform. Their work will directly influence how Drupal evolves in making the platform more accessible and welcoming.
Anyone interested in being part of this early-stage effort can fill out the Join the Marketplace Volunteer Team Form.
