SPARC Session at DrupalJam 2025 to Demonstrate Renewable Energy Management with Drupal

DrupalJam 2025 will feature a session on SPARC, a Drupal-powered solution that helps households optimize renewable energy use through intelligent scheduling of high-energy appliances. Scheduled for May 21 at DeFabrique in Utrecht, the session will be led by Jasper Lammens, Drupal developer and solution architect at Dropsolid.

SPARC leverages solar yield forecasts to determine the best times to run devices like dishwashers and dryers. Metrics are logged in an InfluxDB database, and daily schedules are shared via Discord for easy household coordination. The system runs entirely on open-source tools, eliminating the need for expensive proprietary solutions.

At the core of SPARC is Drupal’s Event-Condition-Action (ECA) module, which connects data sources, automates appliance control, and orchestrates notifications, turning Drupal into a powerful engine for sustainable living.

The session aligns with this year’s DrupalJam theme, “and beyond,” which celebrates pushing the boundaries of what Drupal can do.
