Annertech Secures Full-Time Developer Role to Support LocalGov Drupal

Annertech Awarded LocalGov Drupal Developer Contract to Expand Full-Time Support

Annertech has been awarded a new developer contract to provide full-time support for LocalGov Drupal, a widely used open-source content management system built for local government websites. The appointment reinforces Annertech’s long-standing role in the project and expands on its previous part-time contributions.

Tony Barker, a senior frontend developer with over 15 years of Drupal experience, has been named lead developer. He currently serves on the LocalGov Drupal Technical Governance Committee and is known for his leadership in the broader Drupal community. Supporting him is full-stack developer Christopher Torgalson, whose 18 years of experience will be directed toward solving advanced technical challenges.

“Dedicating highly experienced developers to work on the project reinforces our belief in the value of open source and our commitment to the project's success,”

—Mike King, Director of Delivery, Annertech

Barker and Torgalson have already collaborated on several LocalGov Drupal initiatives and worked closely with council digital teams on agile development projects. Barker, formerly part of Annertech’s support team, brings hands-on insight into the practical challenges local authorities face. Their combined experience deepens the agency’s capability to evolve the platform in line with public sector needs.

Annertech, a Drupal Certified Platinum Partner, has been involved with LocalGov Drupal since its beta phase. The company has contributed to core features such as multilingual functionality, microsites, and content access controls, while also playing an active role in the platform’s technical and accessibility governance groups.

The contract award signals growing momentum for LocalGov Drupal as more councils seek accessible, cost-effective digital solutions. Annertech’s continued investment in the platform underlines the importance of collaboration in delivering modern, inclusive public services.
