AI Hackathon 2026 Launched by Drupal Community of Practice at the European Commission
The 2026 edition of the Europa Web Platform’s Drupal AI Hackathon is now open for registration, bringing together digital professionals from across Europe to build innovative solutions using Drupal and artificial intelligence.
Hosted by the Drupal Community of Practice @ the European Commission under the theme Play to Impact, the two-day event will focus on building practical prototypes that support smarter public services. Teams will present their work to a jury, with the top three earning awards and visibility across the European Commission’s Drupal Community of Practice.
The hackathon will be held in person at Rue de la Loi 107, Brussels, Brussels Hoofdstedelijk Gewest, within the European Commission's central offices.
Hackathon Challenges: AI and No-Code Innovation
Participants can choose from two main challenges:
- AI Agents for Content Editors: Build AI tools that support editorial tasks like audits, optimisation, and scheduling inside Drupal. Focus areas include ECA automation, governance, and human-in-the-loop design.
- AI for No-Code Site Building: Enhance Drupal Canvas with intelligent assistance for visual, accessible site creation — exploring natural language prompts and context-aware UI design.
The hackathon encourages collaboration among developers, designers, and public-sector teams to prototype AI-driven features that are ethical, accessible, and ready to scale.
