DrupalCon Rotterdam 2026 Schedule Highlights AI, Drupal CMS, and Contribution

Organisers have published the DrupalCon Rotterdam 2026 session schedule, setting out summit programming, keynotes, technical sessions, community activities, and contribution work from 28 September 2026 to 1 October 2026. The official schedule says sessions and speakers are subject to change and that additional sessions will be added as they become available.

The programme gives the Drupal community a clearer view of the event’s working agenda. AI, Drupal CMS, Drupal Canvas, digital sovereignty, accessibility, performance, security, and contribution appear across the schedule rather than as isolated topics. The published structure places summit programming on Monday, main conference sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday, and contribution-focused programming on Thursday.

The first day, 28 September 2026, lists five summits from 09:00 to 18:00 CEST. The schedule includes the AI Dev Summit, Enterprise Drupal AI Summit, Government Summit, Higher Education Summit, and Open Social Summit, followed by the International Splash Awards 2026 ceremony from 19:30 to 21:00 CEST.

The main conference opens on 29 September 2026 with the Opening Ceremony and Driesnote. Sessions that day include accessibility, HTMX, AI-assisted contribution, Drupal as an MCP server, Drupal CMS context management, shared government platforms, Workspaces, and Drupal site templates.

AI is visible in both summit programming and technical sessions. A Drupal AI Initiative post presents the AI Dev Summit as a programme for builders and the Enterprise AI Summit as a programme for digital leaders and decision-makers. The schedule also lists AI-related sessions on MCP, contribution workflows, site migration, accessibility, search, and Drupal CMS context management.

Drupal Canvas appears as another recurring programme thread. The schedule lists sessions including Advanced Site Building with Drupal Canvas, AI-assisted site migration to Drupal Canvas: a real-world case study, Drupal Canvas Code Components: Modern JavaScript, agentic engineering, and the road ahead, and Building for Drupal Canvas: Lessons Learned from Real-World Use.

Several sessions point to operational and infrastructure concerns beyond AI. The session How we made the biggest performance gains in a decade in Drupal core says Drupal 11.4 reduced database queries and cache I/O by around 50% compared with Drupal 11.0. The schedule also includes Supply Chain Security in Drupal and Composer, covering the Auto-Updates Initiative, The Update Framework, Rugged TUF Server, and Composer TUF Plugin.

Digital sovereignty is also present across the programme. The Digital Sovereignty & Open Web track connects Drupal and open technologies with infrastructure control, open standards, accessibility, public digital infrastructure, interoperability, decentralisation, and open-source policy.

Contribution remains part of the conference structure. The schedule lists general contribution on 29 September 2026 and 30 September 2026, first-time contributor workshops, mentor orientation, and a 1 October 2026 programme with Drupal in a Day Seminar, general contribution, and mentored contribution.
