Pantheon and Tag1 Consulting Extend Free Drupal 7 Support Until 2027
Pantheon and Tag1 Consulting have announced a partnership to offer free long-term support (LTS) for Drupal 7 websites, extending security updates until January 5, 2027. This extension comes as the Drupal community is set to end official support for Drupal 7 on January 5, 2025. The initiative will allow Pantheon customers to maintain their Drupal 7 sites while planning migrations to newer platforms, such as Drupal 10/11 or WordPress.
Under the partnership, Pantheon customers using the Drupal 7 Upstream will continue receiving security patches and updates to core dependencies through Tag1 Consulting. Additionally, the D7 Extended Support (D7ES) module, developed by Tag1, will deliver patches for community-contributed modules. Pantheon will also maintain support for PHP, MySQL, and other required environments.
Customers won’t need to take immediate action to access these updates, as the workflow remains automated. However, the LTS program does not include the application of patches, and users are responsible for deploying them. For more hands-on support, Tag1 offers managed services.
This collaboration provides a crucial bridge for website owners who need more time to transition away from Drupal 7, ensuring security and stability through 2027.
