Paul Johnson Writes About Leveraging Drupal Event Platform for DrupalCamp Berlin

The Drupal Event Platform is transforming the DrupalCamp organization by streamlining the process and simplifying the digital infrastructure needed to host these community events. Since its release in 2022, the platform, pioneered by Kaleem Clarkson, Martin Anderson-Clutz, and Michael Herchel, has provided a ready-to-use website framework for DrupalCamps. With features like session scheduling, ticket sales, and event management, organizers can focus more on content and design rather than technical setup.

1xINTERNET leveraged this platform for DrupalCamp Berlin, marking the first DrupalCamp in the city in five years. Paul Johnson, Business Development Director at 1xINTERNET, has jotted down how a team of designers and developers successfully employed the platform for the event. With designer Ángela Saldaña Contreras and event planner Hanna Lunau at the helm, the team customized the Drupal Event Platform minimally, prioritizing content creation and user experience. The platform’s built-in scheduling tools significantly reduced the workload.

Supported by Drupal e.V., Germany’s Drupal Association, and a dedicated team, the platform allowed for a seamless, user-focused event. Drupal’s open-source ethos encourages improvements from contributors, ensuring that the Drupal Event Platform remains a valuable resource for future DrupalCamp organizers.
