DrupalCon Singapore 2024: Driesnote Unveils the Latest in Drupal CMS Development

DrupalCon Singapore 2024 has kicked off with an exciting and knowledge-packed first day. The highly anticipated Driesnote, delivered by Drupal founder Dries Buytaert, set the tone for the event, offering valuable insights into the future of Drupal CMS. The latest addition to the Drupal ecosystem, codenamed "Starshot," is scheduled for release on January 15, 2024.

Dries' keynote focused on the current state of Drupal CMS development and its key areas of innovation. He highlighted four main pillars driving the development efforts: Recipes, Experience Builder, Drupal.org, and Marketing & Documentation. Each of these pillars aims to make Drupal more accessible, user-friendly, and powerful for developers and content creators alike.

A significant portion of the address was dedicated to Recipes, a concept that packages years of Drupal expertise into reusable, shareable solutions. Dries elaborated on the various tracks under the Recipes initiative, each led by dedicated track leads. In addition, he unveiled five new tracks set to expand Drupal’s capabilities:

• Tours
• Identity Management/SSO
• Content Translation Tools
• Front-End Design Systems

These new tracks aim to make Drupal more versatile and intuitive for users, while also addressing the demands of modern content management. Dries emphasized the strategic importance of the nine-page Product Strategy document, which outlines Drupal’s vision for no-code website building, calling it a "gold standard" for the industry.

The keynote also acknowledged the contributions of 15 key sponsors who have invested in the essential documentation process for Drupal CMS. Their support underscores the collaborative spirit of the Drupal community, which remains central to its growth and evolution.

One of the most exciting announcements was the release of Drupal CMS' first release candidate, marking a major milestone for the project. To celebrate, Dries encouraged the global Drupal community to organize Drupal CMS launch parties. He directed attendees to the newly launched celebratedrupal.org website, a dedicated hub for organizing and promoting these celebrations.
