DrupalSouth 2025 Steering Committee – Panel & Open Discussion Video Now Available
The video of the DrupalSouth Steering Committee panel and open discussion from the Melbourne 2025 conference is now available online for public viewing. During the session, Chair Julia Toplass and committee members Chris Burgess, Vladimir Roudakov, and Secretary Margery Tongway reviewed key milestones from the past year and outlined plans for the future.
Highlights included the successful 2024 Sydney conference and awards, the Canberra Community Day, and active participation in DrupalCon Asia. The committee confirmed that the Melbourne event concluded with a profit, making DrupalSouth one of the few Linux Australia-affiliated events to do so in the current climate.
Looking ahead, the committee is planning a 2025 community day in collaboration with the GovCMS Mega Meetup and a full conference in New Zealand in May 2026. A renewed focus on outreach aims to attract new contributors, particularly students and professionals outside the Drupal ecosystem. Cross-community engagement with WordPress, Python, and Linux events is also underway.
The panel encouraged community members to attend monthly meetings and consider volunteering, noting that all five committee seats will be up for election in September.
