Angie Byron Wins the Aaron Winborn Award

Angie Byron, Principal Community Manager at MongoDB and a Drupal Core Committer and Product Manager has won the Aaron Winborn Award for this year. The award was announced on the first day of DrupalCon Portland 2022.

Angie started her journey with Drupal in 2005 as a Google Summer of Code Student and immediately fell in love with the Drupal community. Since then, she has completely immersed herself in contributing to open source through user experience improvements, patch review, quality assurance efforts, strategic initiative coordination, general community cat herding, improving and fixing documentation and empowering others.

Aaron Winborn was a long-time Drupal Contributor who lost his battle with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) on 24th March 2015. He has made countless contributions to Drupal projects and the people who use them. He built the Media module, helped organize NYC camps, and contributed valuable codes still used around the globe.

Aaron has made numerous contributions to Drupal projects, community, Drupal Association, and the wider world in ways measurable and immeasurable. To honor his dedication, kindness, humility, and contribution, the Community Working Group started the Aaron Winborn Award with the support of the Drupal Association. This award honors community members who exhibit incredible kindness, integrity, and commitment to the Drupal community.

Baddy Sonja Breidert the co-founder of 1xInternet and Board Member of Drupal Association took to Twitter to congratulate Angie and appreciate her for her work. She said Angie was her biggest inspiration when joining the Drupal project and one of the main reasons she stayed.
 

Other members of the Drupal community also came forward to thank her and share their experience with her.

Angie also thanked everyone for their wishes and kind words. She also thanked her mentors, Acquia and Lullabot for giving her the opportunity to help make Drupal amazing.
