Back to Work for Women Drupal Training Ends

Participants who attended the combined valedictory function for the 15-day Drupal Training Workshop as part of the Back to Work Programme for Women and the 30-hour Hackathon by Women posed for a photograph after the event.

Drupal training for women eager to rejoin work after a break in employment ended successfully on March 19, Sunday at the seminar hall in Green Field Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The training program was offered as part of the fifth edition of the Back to Work Program for Women devised by the International Centre for Free and Open Source Software (ICFOSS) with the gender budgeting fund of the state government.

Zyxware Technologies partnered with ICFOSS to impart Drupal Training for the participants, and the candidates who completed the course were issued certificates of appreciation. Zyxware has already promised to induct a few participants to their company fold.

ICFOSS held a combined valedictory function for the 15-day Back to Work program and the 30-hour Women Hackathon. The latter was organized in association with the Tourism Club of the Department of Tourism, Government of Kerala.

Dr Sabarish K., Chief Scientist and Head of Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE), and Thomas P. Thomas, CEO of Zyxware Technologies, spoke at the event. Dr Rajeev R. R., Head of Programmes of ICFOSS, presided. Dr Sabarish was the jury chair for the hackathon.

"First, I would like to thank ICFOSS and their staff for conducting this training programme so smoothly and taking care of every concern of the participants. I would also like to thank KDISC and Kerala Knowledge Economy Mission for supporting the programme. Lastly, I thank the participants who put aside their fears and took the first step of joining this course. They have taken a step to enter a world that is not where their family and friends are, but there is a world out there that is eager to hear from you and support you. Drupal Association, whose representative spoke to you the other day, is just one such. There are more.

Zyxware would certainly want to welcome some of you as our employees. Our HR will contact you this week to make that happen.

I would also like to add that what you have taken is a radical step in some ways, especially when looking at the bigger picture. This programme results from the Government of Kerala's choice to have an initiative for Gender and Technology in its budget. That is the programme that you are part of. Therefore, in some sense, your step is radical, and I wish you all the best,"

said Thomas P. Thomas, CEO of Zyxware.

Drupal training for the Back to Work programme for Women started on March 01, 2023. Von R. Eaton, Director of Programs at Drupal Association, addressed the students on March 17, Friday at 9.00 am IST, over a Zoom conference. The same batch of students had also participated in the 30-hour hackathon. The participants also posed for a group photo after the event.
