LocalGov Scarfolk Demo Theme Receives Design Refresh
A redesign of the Scarfolk demo theme used by LocalGov Drupal has been completed five years after its initial release, with updated visuals intended to better showcase the platform’s capabilities.
Mark Conroy, who originally created the theme as a demonstration layer for LocalGov Drupal, said the first iteration was built quickly and deliberately kept lightweight. Minimal CSS and templating were used to demonstrate how much could be achieved with limited customisation. After several years in use on the project’s demo site, Conroy undertook a comprehensive refresh as part of the effort to redesign the LocalGov Scarfolk theme.
The redesigned theme focuses on improving visual presentation while retaining its role as a practical example for councils and developers evaluating LocalGov Drupal. A screenshot shared alongside the announcement shows a reworked layout and updated styling aligned with current frontend expectations.
In addition to the visual overhaul, Conroy streamlined the JavaScript file equal-heights-blocks.js and addressed a usability issue affecting table-drag interactions when LocalGov Base is used as the base theme. The related work includes improvements discussed in the issues for streamlining equal-heights-blocks.js and a fix for tabledrag usability in LocalGov Base.
