LocalGov Drupal Camp 2026 Promotes Sheffield Identity With “Lizzie the Elephant” Patch

Sheffield’s connection to “Lizzie the elephant” is referenced in a new mission patch introduced for LocalGov Drupal Camp 2026, the community event scheduled for 11 and 12 June 2026 in the United Kingdom.

The patch was shared as part of LocalGov Drupal’s wider event outreach and registration activity for the annual gathering, which brings together councils, developers, digital teams, and contributors working with LocalGov Drupal. Organisers also invited community members to identify Lizzie’s historical connection to Sheffield without using search engines.

The mission patch forms part of the event branding for LocalGov Drupal Camp 2026, which will take place at Sheffield Hallam University’s City Campus. Day one is expected to include lightning talks, workshops, show-and-tell sessions, and discussion groups. A Contribution Day scheduled for 12 June will focus on collaborative development work, roadmap discussions, and issue queue activity related to LocalGov Drupal.

LocalGov Drupal is a Drupal distribution developed collaboratively by councils and partner organisations to support digital public services in local government. Community events such as the annual camp are used to coordinate product direction, share implementation experience, and encourage contribution across the ecosystem.

According to the organisers, the event is intended for digital and product managers, content designers, developers, and suppliers working with councils and public-sector organisations. Attendance is also open to participants outside the existing LocalGov Drupal community.

Social activities are planned alongside the main programme. A gathering is scheduled for 10 June at Sheffield’s National Video Game Museum, while an additional social event planned for 11 June has yet to be confirmed.

Attendance is free for councils, though organisers noted that places are limited. Certified suppliers are eligible for one free ticket and may purchase additional tickets, with attendance capped at four participants per supplier. Separate registration is required for the contribution day.
