D7Security Expands Membership and Calls for Community Support in D7 Maintenance
The D7Security group, dedicated to providing extended security support for Drupal 7, has welcomed new members, Henri Médot and MustangGB, who join an active community maintaining 135 contributed modules. Leading contributors include MustangGB (93 modules), Henri Médot (19 modules), and Vijay Mani (14 modules).
With Drupal 7 approaching its extended support phase, D7Security is seeking volunteers to maintain both core and contributed projects. While commercial Extended Support (ES) providers have opted not to open-source their fixes, collaboration efforts continue. Notably, Tag1 released a security update for the Coffee module, crediting D7Security for its contributions.
The group has outlined a strategic approach to maintaining Drupal 7 projects, avoiding mass forking and instead applying updates selectively. Members are encouraged to contribute by installing the d7security_client
module and assisting in setting up an RSS feed for aggregating blog posts to Drupal Planet.
