Women in Drupal Award Winners Announced at DrupalCon Vienna 2025
The winners of the 2025 Women in Drupal Awards were announced today at DrupalCon Vienna, recognising three individuals for their significant impact on the Drupal open-source platform. The annual initiative celebrates leadership, innovation, and sustained contributions to the community, with a focus on inclusion and equitable recognition.
Backed this year by sponsor JAKALA, the awards spotlight contributions that often go under-recognised in the broader tech industry. The program is open to individuals of all gender identities who identify as women or have advanced gender equity within the Drupal ecosystem.
2025 Award Winners:
- Define Category: Emma Horrell Recognised for her work shaping Drupal projects through strategic leadership, design thinking, and product direction.
- Build Category: Sinduri Guntupalli Honoured for her technical and organisational contributions to the platform's development and stability.
- Scale Category: Jess (xjm) Acknowledged for her efforts in expanding Drupal's global reach and influence.
All three awardees will be invited to serve on the jury for the 2026 award cycle.
The Women in Drupal Award was created to highlight work that drives the platform forward-often behind the scenes-and to elevate voices that contribute meaningfully to the Drupal community. Organisers stress the importance of recognising contributions beyond code, including leadership, mentorship, advocacy, and community building.
This year's winners were selected by a jury made up of members of the Drupal Association, previous award recipients Pamela Barone (Define, 2024), Alla Petrovska (Build, 2024), and Baddy Sonja Breidert (Scale, 2024; CEO and Co-Founder of 1xINTERNET), along with the award's creator Esmeralda Tijhoff and Kitt Ralkov, Managing Director, DXP France, UK, and Nordic at JAKALA.
DrupalCon's continued support of the Women in Drupal Awards underscores the community's broader commitment to diversity, inclusion, and the recognition of impactful work across all areas of the platform.
