Relieve pressure within OS communities with reusable systems, templates, and succession management
We will discuss some of the sustainability challenges present for OS communities and their maintainers, the pain points, consequences, and potential solutions.
Within Open Source, we are encouraged not to reinvent the wheel blindly, but to share and build upon each other’s work, experience and knowledge. With this in mind, we will make the case and give examples for participants to consider, taking advantage of this principle when building out processes and workflows.
We will focus on creating, using, and sharing templates and processes, with a demo of how we have implemented such features within different OS communities. This demo includes integrations with well-known and bespoke tools to add automation and make reusable, centralized process management part of a transparent workflow. We’ll also discuss creating a solid cultural foundation to support these principles and the people who make up our communities.
